General Guidelines

Effective use of videoconferencing technology tools for interactive learning requires practice and planning as well as attention to a few important guidelines and best practices. The document (linked below ) has been designed to help you to use videoconferencing technology effectively to facilitate Distance Learning to our students.

Google Meet Features:

  1. Setting up and joining is easy for all users, especially for those non-techy users either teachers or students. To access it, go to

  2. No need to install any software on the attendee's computer.

  3. Ability to record meetings and save them to Google Drive.

  4. Live Captions feature.

  5. The service allows you to host meetings with up to 100 students.

  6. This premium service will be available until July 1st, 2020.

  7. We have posted the Google Meet icon for all employees in My Harmony Portal and in Clever Portal for teachers as well.

Zoom features:

  1. It is recommended for School admin meetings, PD or Secondary Classes. It is not suggested for elementary students since its interface requires more attention to detail and for adjusting the settings such as a microphone and camera for the video. 

  2. Can be used for recording a class or tutorial and send the link of the recording

  3. Users may need to install an app on a computer unless the host enables the enables bypassing installation. To learn more about this click here.

  4. Setup up requires more time than Google Meet but it has more features.

  5. Users can be pushed to be registered before joining a meeting.

  6. Installing the Zoom Client on a windows computer for the Host requires admin privileges.

  7. The service allows you to host meetings with up to 300 participants with recording. For more details click here.

  8. Premium features such as unlimited time and 300 participants will be available until July 2020.
